President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Mrs Leila Fowler, a distinguished Lawyer, educationist, and founder of Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls.

‎

‎The president’s message was conveyed in a statement issued by presidential spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, on Monday in Abuja.

‎

‎Chief Fowler, the Yeye Mofin of Lagos and mother of ex-Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Chairman, Babatunde Fowler, passed away at the age of 92.

‎

‎Tinubu described her death as a monumental loss to her family, community, and the nation, especially the education sector where she made a lasting mark.

‎

‎”Through establishing the Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls, the late Mrs Fowler laid the foundation for academic excellence, nurturing generations of young women and empowering them to reach their fullest potential.

‎

‎”Her legacy lives on in the thousands of lives she transformed. The nation is grateful for her remarkable impact. She will be fondly engraved in our minds,”he said.

‎

‎The president extended his condolences to the Fowler family, the college community, friends, associates, and the people of Lagos State.

‎

‎He prayed for God’s comfort for all who mourn her and for the eternal repose of her soul.

Meanwhile, Vice President Kashim Shettima has reiterated President Tinubu’s directive to the Armed Forces to review security operations in the fight against terrorist groups across the country.

This, according to him, includes the deployment of advanced military hardware and surveillance equipment to eliminate terrorist groups across the country.

In his condolence message on Monday, Shettima conveyed his condolences to the government and people of Borno State over the recent terrorist attack that claimed many lives in the Darajamal community, Bama Local Government Area.

Shettima described the incident as a profound loss to both the state and the nation.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the people of Borno, and the Nigerian military over the tragic loss of our compatriots.

“These deaths have left the entire nation in collective grief, but we are confident that justice will be served for the bereaved families,” the Vice-President stated.

Shettima expressed confidence in the Armed Forces’ capacity to overcome the security challenges facing the state.

He cited President Tinubu’s approval for the acquisition of additional drones and his directive for all security agencies to intensify and review their operational strategies.

The Vice-President highlighted the federal government’s consideration of establishing state police.

Shettima emphasised Tinubu’s position that security challenges in some Nigerian states require specialized units that understand local terrain, culture, and can effectively network at the grassroots level.

He offered prayers for the bereaved families and assured both the state government and affected families of continued federal government support in addressing the security situation.
