Tinubu Seeks N1.48trn Budget Approval For Rivers

President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, requested the National Assembly to approve N1.481trn as the 2025 budget for Rivers State.
According to the budget breakdown, N324bn is allocated for infrastructure development, N166bn for the health sector, N75.6bn for education, and N31.4bn for agriculture.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, who confirmed the request during Thursday’s plenary session, said Tinubu urged the house to expeditiously consider and pass the appropriation bill.
The budget proposal comes months after Ibok-Ete Ibas, Rivers State’s sole administrator, announced on April 3 that the state would soon have a new 2025 budget prioritising education, healthcare, social services, and infrastructural development.
This followed President Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State on March 18, 2025, citing a protracted political crisis in the state.
