Tinubu replaces Ganduje’s ally with AVM Saddiq Kaita as BUK governing council chairman

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Air Vice Marshal Saddiq Ismaila Kaita (Rtd.) as the new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Bayero University, Kano (BUK).

AVM Kaita takes over from Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who is currently serving as the Chairman of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN).

In a statement issued on Friday, Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said, “The President made the change to enable Dr. Gawuna to concentrate on his position at the FMBN.”

Before his retirement, AVM Saddiq Kaita held several key roles in the Nigerian Air Force, including Director of Strategy at the Defence Headquarters and Chief of Defence Transformation and Innovation.

He is widely recognised for his efforts in advancing training standards and operational efficiency within the Air Force.
