Tinubu Renames UNIMAID To Muhammadu Buhari University

President Bola Tinubu has approved the renaming of the University of Maiduguri in Borno State to Muhammadu Buhari University.

The announcement was made during a special session of the Federal Executive Council held on Thursday to honour the late President Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

In a heartfelt tribute, President Tinubu praised Buhari’s legacy, describing him as “a good man, a decent man, an honourable man.”

He said Buhari’s discipline, patriotism, and moral uprightness would be remembered for generations to come.

While acknowledging that Buhari was not without flaws, Tinubu said he was committed to national service.

“President Buhari was not a perfect man, no leader is, but he was, in every sense of the word, a good man, a decent man, an honourable man.

“His record will be debated, as all legacies are, but the character he brought to public life, the moral force he carried, the incorruptible standard he represented, will not be forgotten.

“His was a life lived in full service to Nigeria, and in fidelity to God,” he said.

Tinubu had approved an expanded special session of the FECT meeting to accommodate members of his predecessor’s family, amongst others.

The FEC meeting held at the Council Chambers, Presidential Villa, Abuja, by 5:00 p.m.

The FEC meeting was also attended by leadership of the National Assembly, the Senate and the House of Representatives, and the Judiciary.

It was held after the third day prayer for the late former president at his residence in Daura, Katsina State, with the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shetima, leading a delegation of the Federal Government for the prayers.

Meanwhile, there are also other activities lined up for Friday and Sunday in honour of the late president.

On Friday, a special prayer session will be held in honour of the late former president at the National Mosque, Abuja.

On Sunday, a special church service will be conducted in honour of the late former president.
