Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday praised President Bola Tinubu, describing him as a blessing to Nigeria and highlighting some of his administration’s achievements.

Speaking during a plenary session presided over by Speaker Mojisola Meranda, the lawmakers commended Tinubu’s leadership, emphasizing that he assumed office at a critical time when Nigerians were grappling with socio-economic challenges before the 2023 elections.

Raising the motion, Tobun Abiodun (Member representing Epe I) asserted that Tinubu’s policies had already begun yielding positive results in less than two years.

He cited economic growth and the strengthening of the Naira as key indicators of the administration’s success. According to him, the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has increased, and the value of the Naira is gradually stabilizing.

He also noted that fuel scarcity had been eliminated, urging the Federal Government to continue on the progressive path it started two years ago.

“Currently, the policies are yielding positive results and the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has increased. The value of naira is gradually gaining strength.

“There is no more fuel scarcity anymore in the country. We need to encourage the federal government to continue on the good pedestrian it started two years ago,” Tobun said.

In his contribution, Majority Leader Adewale Temitope (Member representing Ifako-Ijaiye I) noted that Tinubu’s leadership approach demonstrated thorough preparation before assuming office.

He pointed out that the Federal Government had continued to address the concerns of Nigerians, citing the revival of refineries, which has led to a reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol.

He also lauded Tinubu’s role in strengthening the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) both at the state and national levels, describing him as a true democrat.

He added that the House remains committed to the ideals of the party, its leadership, and the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), which continues to provide guidance in Lagos.

On his part, Gbolahan Yishawu (Member representing Eti-Osa II) praised the President’s efforts in combating insecurity and reducing inflation, acknowledging that these measures were crucial for economic stability and national progress.

Similarly, Aro Moshood (Member representing Ikorodu II) commended Tinubu for approving an upward review of the country’s minimum wage, attracting foreign investments exceeding $40m, and mitigating the impact of fuel subsidy removal through various interventions.

Speaker Meranda expressed confidence in Tinubu’s ability to fulfill Nigerians’ aspirations.

She acknowledged that while the administration faced challenges at the start, it was now evident that its policies were yielding positive results.

Meranda also highlighted Tinubu’s investment in security, noting that the country was experiencing a decline in insecurity.

She then directed the acting Clerk of the House, Taiwo Ottun, to send a commendation letter to the President, acknowledging the positive impact of his policies and programs.

“I know President Tinubu will take us to the Promised Land. When he started, it was rough but it is becoming obvious the policies are yielding results.

“This is a positive result happening within the short time Tinubu came into power. Tinubu’s investment in the security architecture is also yielding results as we have insecurity reducing,” Meranda said.
