Tinubu Begins France, UK Leave Seven Days After Return From Brazil

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday departed Abuja to commence his annual vacation in Europe, barely a week after returning from a state visit to Brazil.

According to his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s leave will last 10 working days and will be spent between France and the United Kingdom.

Tinubu had returned to Abuja on August 27 from Brasília after concluding his state visit to Brazil. During the three-day engagement, he met with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and other senior officials.

He also oversaw the signing of five Memoranda of Understanding covering aviation, foreign affairs, science and technology, and agriculture. He also held meetings with investors and the Nigerian diaspora community in Brazil.

The latest trip comes months after Tinubu drew mixed reactions from Nigerians when he took an extended leave in Paris and London earlier in April.

At the time, the presidency said the retreat was to review his administration’s midterm performance.

Since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Tinubu has embarked on more than 30 foreign trips which include diplomatic engagements and personal visits.
