President Bola Tinubu has appointed Folashade Adekaiyaoja as the Deputy Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The president made the appointment on the recommendation of the DG, through the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, The Nation reports.

The first deputy DG appointment aims to revise the agency’s structure for better efficiency, as the service organogram comprises three Deputy Directors General in its hierarchy.

Consequently, the president tasked the heads of security agencies to come up with proposals on how to improve their service delivery.

During the investiture ceremony for the National Institute for Security Studies Executive Intelligence Management Course 17 graduates last December, Tinubu promised to assist the DSS and other security agencies by providing them with state-of-the-art equipment powered by artificial intelligence to address insecurity across the country.

In a statement delivered through the NSA, the president emphasized his awareness of the security challenges facing the nation today and urged all security agencies to work together for the benefit of Nigerians.

The Director-General of the DSS, Oluwastosin Ajayi, upon assumption of office, promised significant reforms. He assured that these changes would transform the DSS into one of the most efficient covert security agencies in the world.
