Thugs ‘Smuggling Weapons’ Into Edo Arrested
Ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Edo State, security operatives have reportedly apprehended some individuals accused of attempting to smuggle firearms into the state.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claims the individuals are affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP made the allegation via their official X (formerly Twitter) account, where it shared a video showing the moment men in army uniforms arrested the alleged thugs.
The PDP had said in the tweet, “Security Operatives and the people of Edo State apprehend APC thugs trying to smuggle guns into Edo State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
“We salute the courage of the Edo people in their determination to ensure that only the Will of the people prevail,” the party said.
Both the spokesman of the APC, Felix Morka, and the Edo State chapter of the party as well as its campaign organisation were not available for comments on Friday night.
The PDP, however, urged the people to “resist riggers” and “protect your votes.”
