There’s cabal in every govt – Buhari’s ex-CoS, Gambari
Former Chief of Staff to the late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Ibrahim Gambari, has disclosed that there are cabals in every government.
Gambari disclosed that the president usually relies on these cabals for critical decision-making.
The Nigerian diplomat revealed this in an interview with Laolu Akande, ex-spokesperson to former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
He noted that the late former president also had a small group of his own.
Gambari said: “They say there’s a cabal or was a cabal, there was, but every government has a cabal. It is what they call them.
“Some call it ‘kitchen cabinet’, some may call it ‘think tank’. Obasanjo had a group of people, the Aboyades of this world and others, and a small group of people.
“It is the nature of the office of the president that they must have some people in and out of government that they can let their hair down with, talk to freely.
“So, some have more powers than others, but every government, I make it bold to say, has a cabal of one kind or whatever name it is called.”
Recall that former First Lady, Aisha Buhari, had in 2018 alleged that a cabal had hijacked the immediate past administration.
But the late former president had dismissed her allegation.
A few months ago, a Minister of Youth and Sports during Buhari’s administration, Solomon Dalung, admitted that there was a cabal around the late president.
Dalung, however, disclosed that the cabal surrounding President Bola Tinubu was more dangerous and ambitious than those that allegedly held Buhari down.
