SATIRE..THE TIME TO ” DEMOLISH ” PDP SECRETARIAT IS NOW BY CKN
To every discerning mind , the place of an opposition party in a democracy cannot be over emphasised.
An opposition party by all intense and purposes ought to be the mouth piece of the people against any tyrannical government in power
Despite how all the all powerful US government led by Donald Trump is trying take the American people on a ” Trumpy ” ride , the opposition party of Democrats as well as the Judiciary have stood firm to ensure the country is not turned into a one party state
In the United Kingdom, while the Labour Party has an overwhelming majority in parliament, the opposition party of Conservatives despite their huge loss at the last election has been able to keep the ruling party on its toes
In Nigeria the Peoples Democratic Party ruled Nigeria for 16 years promising to rule for the next 50 years until it was brought down from its high horse by the APC in 2015
The PDP since then has been wobbling and fumbling ( Fanny Amu )
Since 2015 , Peoples Democratic Party has remained an opposition party to it’s self
It not only lost most of its key members ( expectedly) to the ruling APC , the soul of the party has been torn apart
Despite the atrocities and economic woes brought upon Nigerians by APC in the last 10 years, the PDP has not in any way been able to play the role of a credible opposition to the ruling APC
It has always been from one internal problem to the other
A faction of the party led by current Minister of FCT Nyesom Wike is hell bent at inflicting maximum injury to the party
With the court solidly behind him , Wike has become a torn in the flesh of the leaders of the party in his home state of Rivers State and also at the National level
The fear of Wike with backings of the courts is the beginning of wisdom
The elected Governor in Rivers has been ” removed ” through the declaration of State of Emergency because of the rift between him and his political godson Sim Fubara
Today another of his cronies Senator Sam Anyawu has been reinstated as the National Secretary of the Party by the Supreme Court despite the opposition of the PDP stakeholders and Governors Forum
When Wike sneezes everyone in PDP catches cold
During the week Wike issued a demolition notice to the PDP, informing the party of his desire to takeover the land since according to him, the party has failed to pay its land dues
Many are of the opinion that if nothing is done urgently to arrest this drift , PDP as a party will become totally irrelevant and extinct prior to the 2027 general election
I am of the opinion that this is the right time to ” demolish ” PDP and start a rebuilt
To be able to achieve that, the party must have the ball to fully confront the huge elephant in the house
All the moles within the party must be uprooted and sacked
Except the party does this , it’s losses at the 2023 election would be a child’s play
I wish them well
