Taraba Assembly approves N128bn Supplementary Budget
The Taraba State House of Assembly, on Wednesday, approved a Supplementary Budget of over N128 billion for the 2025 fiscal year.
The move, as noticed by DAILY POST, followed the first and second readings of the appropriation bill submitted to the House by by Governor Agbu Kefas.
The proposed funds, according to the members, are expected to be drawn from the state’s Consolidated Revenue Fund to address priority areas not captured in the original 2025 budget.
Governor Kefas highlighted that the additional funding will target critical sectors including agriculture, healthcare, and security.
He also disclosed that the State Executive Council had endorsed an extra N14 billion in financial requirements.
The Majority Leader, Jethro Yakubu Zikengyu moved a point of order that enabled the bill’s progression to second reading. The Speaker, John Kizito Bonzena, referred the bill to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation for further scrutiny.
In another development, the Taraba State Emblem Establishment Bill also passed its first reading and was forwarded to the Rules and Business Committee for review.
