A 75-year-old farmer, Bukar Tijjani, has been shot dead by suspected Boko Haram terrorists while working on his farmland in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

The attack reportedly occurred around 12:00 pm on Wednesday, according to a family member of the victim who spoke to counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama.

Sources said the victim was ambushed and shot in the back by the assailants while tending to his crops.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI were immediately deployed to the area following the incident.

The team evacuated the victim to the General Hospital in Konduga, but he was later referred to the Borno State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.

The deceased has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
