Captain of the Super Falcons of Nigeria, Rasheedat Ajibade, is set to join French giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
The player has agreed to join PSG after her contract with Atlético Madrid expired in June, making her a free agent.
The development was made known in a recent post shared on the X handle (formerly Twitter) of IRP, a platform that reports breaking news about the French women’s team.
“PSG strikes hard: total agreement for Ajibade!” it stated.
“Freshly crowned African champion, the 25-year-old Nigerian striker is expected to soon join the capital to bring her experience.
“A reinforcement that addresses a need in the Parisian offensive area.” IRP’s post read on X.
Several MLS clubs showed interest in signing Ajibade, but PSG has secured her signature.
Ajibade will join fellow Nigerian midfielder Jennifer Echegini at PSG, increasing the number of Nigerian players in the squad to two.
She recently led the Super Falcons to a record 10th Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco and was named the tournament’s best player.
The 24-year-old winger is known for her pace, versatility, and attacking prowess, making her a valuable addition to PSG’s squad.
This transfer marks a new chapter in Ajibade’s career, positioning her at one of the top clubs in women’s football and further solidifying her status as one of Africa’s premier talents.
