Super Eagles of Nigeria climb three spots in latest FIFA World ranking
The Super Eagles of Nigeria climbed three spots in the latest FIFA World soccer rankings despite recently boycotting the 2025 AFCON qualifying match against Libya.
The three-time AFCON champions went from 39th to 36th place in the world rankings, which were made public on FIFA’s website on Thursday, October 24.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria also rose from sixth to fourth place in Africa as a whole, trailing only Morocco’s 13th spot, Senegal’s 20th, and Egypt’s 30th place.
Argentina, the World Cup winners, remains at the top of the world rankings, but they have lost ground to France in second place and Spain in third.
Belgium is ranked sixth, Brazil fifth, and England fourth, and they have all maintained their positions.
The Azzurri of Italy is ranked ninth, whereas Portugal is ranked seventh. Germany rose to 11th place, while the Netherlands dropped to 8th and Colombia to 10th.
