Super Eagles B Outshine Congo 2-0 in Commanding CHAN 2024 Display
The home-based Super Eagles of Nigeria, also referred to as Super Eagles B, made amends after defeating Congo 2-0 in their CHAN 2024 group round match.
With sharp passing and intense pressure that unnerved their Congolese opponents, the Nigerian B team took control of the third and final group game right away.
Nigeria won thanks to goals in either half, guaranteeing they took home all three points. However, they will not advance to the next stage of the competition after losing their first two games.
The Home Eagles finally broke the tie in the 56th minute of the second half as Sikiru Alimi headed down a cross from the left side for Yusuf to finish with his right foot in front of the goal.
In the 93rd minute of the last group match, Alimi’s incredible header put Nigeria ahead 2-0 and ultimately secured the team’s maximum points as they bowed out of the tournament with pride.
The result has boosted confidence within the camp, with fans hailing the team’s improved display compared to their previous outings. Head coach Eric Chelle praised his players’ discipline and execution.
