Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has unveiled a second-term agenda anchored on smart urban development, digital healthcare, and other infrastructure ahead of the November 8 gubernatorial election.

In a statement by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo outlined his vision to consolidate first-term gains while accelerating transformative projects that would reposition Anambra as a “green, liveable, and prosperous homeland.”

Notable among his promises is the Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City (AMIC).

Aburime said the initiatives aim to redefine urban living, stimulating economic growth, and enhancing environmental sustainability.

The state also plans to improve its healthcare through the establishment of a state-of-the-art Oncology Centre, designed to address Nigeria’s growing cancer burden.

Aburime said the development would build on existing telemedicine efforts while stating the government’s agenda to provide real-time digital consultations for residents across both urban and rural areas.

In transportation, Soludo announced the rollout of the Anambra Transport Masterplan, which includes a state rail network, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems, digital ticketing, and dualised highways.

The goal, according to the government, would enhance seamless mobility, increase productivity, and reduce carbon emissions.

The state government also stated plans to transform Anambra’s tourism assets, including Ogbunike Caves, Owerre-Ezukala Waterfalls, and Agulu Lake, into secure eco-tourism destinations.

Aburime added that the soon-to-be-launched Marriott Hotel in Awka, the state capital, is expected to further stimulate hospitality and business tourism.

On education and youth empowerment, the state government said the sectors would be supported through the launch of a comprehensive bursary scheme for Anambra students, aimed at ensuring no student is left behind.

“With his second-term vision, Governor Soludo is not just promising continuity but a dramatic leap forward in transforming Anambra into a model state,” Aburime said.
