Six Injured In Knife Attack At German Train Station
A knife attack at Hamburg’s central train station on Friday evening left six people severely injured, prompting a large-scale police response and disruption to rail services.
Authorities confirmed that a 39-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the incident.
German police said initial findings suggest she acted alone, and investigations into her motives are ongoing.
Three of the victims are in critical condition, while three others suffered serious injuries, according to local media outlets BILD and the Hamburger Morgenpost.
Some victims reportedly received emergency treatment aboard trains at the scene.
DW news reports that the attack occurred during the busy rush hour at Hamburg Hauptbahnhof, one of Germany’s busiest railway stations.
The incident significantly impacted rail transportation, with rail operator Deutsche Bahn warning of delays and partial cancellations due to the police operations around the area.
The attack marks the third stabbing incident in Germany within a week.
On Sunday in Bielefeld, a 35-year-old man, born in Syria, was arrested after seriously injuring four out of five people in a bar.
Prosecutors are treating that case as a religiously motivated assault on Germany’s democratic order.
Similarly, a 13-year-old boy was arrested in Berlin on Friday in connection with the stabbing of a 12-year-old schoolmate the previous day in Spandau.
