Siblings Detained For Alleged Involvement In Abduction, Gang Rape of 14-Year-Old Girl

A man in his late 20s, identified as Honest, has been taken into custody by the Egi Divisional Police headquarters in Obite, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) of Rivers State.
He is accused of conspiring with his brother, Mr. Okwukwe, to abduct and gang rape a 14-year-old girl in Erima community.
According to a community source, the siblings allegedly abducted the teenager on Sunday evening while she was walking alone on a path to her brother’s house.
The source revealed that the girl was held from dusk to dawn, during which time she was subjected to the horrific ordeal.
Onuigba Chinonye Aboy, Second-in-Command of the ONELGA Security Planning and Advisory Committee (OSPAC), Egi Command, spoke about the disturbing incident involving a missing 14-year-old girl from Erima community.
According to Aboy, he was on patrol with his team when they encountered a distraught woman who reported that her daughter had been missing since Sunday evening, with no word from her until Monday afternoon.
“I now asked the woman which area, she now directed us .We now begin investigation. Through some good neighbours too, we try to find out where the little girl is.
“When we went into the place, we saw two brothers, senior and junior raping the little girl of 14 year old. On the process of trying to arrest them, the senior one try to prove stubborn to fight us. As we are dragging with him, by then the junior one now run away, we now apprehended the senior one and handed over to Egi Police Division in Obite on Monday in the evening time.
“My advice to other criminals that we want to behave this way,is that we will also send them the same place we send this person if they dont want to change.
“If they change,the community will contain we and them.But if they dont want to change this community and Egi entirely will not contain the OSPAC and the criminals”.
When contacted, SP Grace Iringe Koko, the Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Police Command confirmed the incident.
She disclosed that one of the the suspect have been arrested while the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State,CP Olatunji Disu has directed that the suspect as well as the case file be transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Depaetment(SCIID) PortHarcourt and mandated the Diisional Police Officer(DPO) to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspect while adding that all perpetrators of crime must face consequence of their action.
