Shockwave in Delta Politics As Governor Oborevwori Dumps PDP for APC

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement came after a private meeting held at the Government House in Asaba on Wednesday.

Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, confirmed the news during a phone call with Vanguard.

The decision to join the APC followed extensive discussions with various political stakeholders and is aimed at fostering the long-term development of Delta State.

Governor Oborevwori, who won the 2023 gubernatorial election as a PDP candidate, was received by prominent APC leaders.

Political analysts view the move as a significant strategic shift with potential implications for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
