Seyi, Yinka Tinubu Donate 500 Bags Of Rice, Medical Supplies, Others To Maiduguri Flood Victims

Seyi and Yinka Tinubu, children of President Bola Tinubu, have led a humanitarian effort to assist victims of recent devastating floods in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Working through the ST Noella Relief initiative and in partnership with the Noella Foundation and private sector allies, they have mobilised resources for persons affected by the disaster.
This follows President Tinubu’s earlier call for private sector involvement in flood relief during his recent visit to Maiduguri.
The president’s sons supervised the delivery of essential supplies to thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs).
During their visit to Borno State, where they met with Governor Babagana Zulum and the Shehu of Borno, Seyi Tinubu stated, “We are here today, united in the belief that when our people are in need, we respond with action.
“These contributions are just the beginning, and we will continue to support Maiduguri and Borno State as they recover from this tragedy.”
The aid includes 1,000 cartons each of spaghetti, tomato paste and groundnut oil, 200 bags of maize flour, 500 bags of rice, and 10,000 loaves of bread.
Non-food items comprise 5,000 mosquito nets, 1,000 mattresses, 4,000 blankets, and various hygiene supplies.
Others were medical supplies, including 26,000 packs of antimalarial drugs, thousands of boxes of other medications, and medical consumables.
Additionally, Seyi and Yinka mobilised 50 doctors to provide support to the Borno State Ministry of Health.
Governor Zulum expressed gratitude for the swift response and assured efficient distribution of the donated items.
The Tinubus promised more aid in the coming weeks to support the ongoing recovery process.
THE WHISTLER reported that during his visit to Maiduguri last week, President Tinubu announced plans to create a disaster relief fund to assist Nigerian citizens impacted by floods and other disasters.
“There must be a disaster relief fund,” Tinubu declared.
“After my visit to the Shehu of Borno and the IDP camp, I have been reflecting on how to tackle this kind of disaster and the effects of climate change.
“I will invite the private sector to team up with us and help rebuild the affected areas.
“If we take a small percentage from FAAC and put it as disaster relief fund, which will include all of you, we will be activating and strengthening our sense of belonging,” the president said, calling for comprehensive approach to tackle such calamities and the effects of climate change.
The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs Zubaida Umar, had disclosed that no fewer than 259 persons lost their lives to flood disasters that affected over one million people across 29 states in 2024.
