Senator Seeks Peace, Unity In Southern Kaduna, Meets Religious Leaders
Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, has called on religious leaders to sustain their efforts in fostering peace and unity across Southern Kaduna and beyond.
The senator made the appeal during a meeting with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in the senatorial district on Friday.
“You are saddled with the responsibility of preaching peace and inspiring our people towards positive transformation.
“Our senatorial district will experience higher growth and development if we continue to live in peace and unity. I appeal to our religious fathers to continue to preach peace, unity, and cohesion to our citizens. We must live together irrespective of our different backgrounds, faiths, and tribes; that is the only way we can attract development to our region,” Katung told the leaders.
The senator expressed gratitude for the spiritual and moral support he has received from the religious leaders, emphasizing the role of their prayers in his achievements so far.
“I deeply appreciate all those who are interceding for me and the mandate I carry. Without these prayers, we could not have recorded the achievements so far,” Katung added.
The lawmaker reiterated his commitment to good governance, pledging to prioritize access to quality education and provide opportunities for youth empowerment.
“We will address the issue of poverty through small-scale enterprises and skill acquisition programs,” he stated, adding that his leadership approach is inclusive and devoid of religious or tribal biases.
“For me, party politics ends after elections. What matters to me is governance,” Katung added.
He acknowledged the contributions of President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani in facilitating the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia.
In their responses, the leadership of both CAN and JNI lauded Senator Katung for his dedication to inclusive leadership and peacebuilding.
“We commend the Senator for his visionary and inclusive leadership,” the religious leaders said, pledging their continued prayers and support for his administration.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment from all parties to work together for the peace and progress of Southern Kaduna.
