Senator Lado Commends Tinubu’s Commitment to Financial Reforms as Senate Screens PenCom DG and RMAFC Commissioners
Senator Basheer Mohammed Lado, Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his ongoing financial reforms and commitment to fiscal discipline.
He made the declaration during the recent Senate screening of Ms Omolola Bridget Oloworaran, the newly appointed Director-General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom).
The Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service conducted the screening, reiterating President Tinubu’s dedication to strengthening Nigeria’s financial institutions, reducing leakages, and enhancing revenue streams to support national development.
Senator Lado highlighted that President Tinubu’s vision of appointing capable and highly qualified individuals to key positions within critical financial institutions is central to his administration’s broader agenda of improving fiscal discipline.
Under Ms Oloworaran’s leadership, PenCom is anticipated to advance the administration’s goals of promoting financial transparency and accountability while safeguarding pension funds and implementing sustainable pension reforms for the benefit of all Nigerians.
Additionally, Lado commended President Tinubu for nominating 21 candidates as Commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
Following their recent screening by the Senate, these nominees are expected to reassess revenue-sharing mechanisms and enhance revenue inflows into the national treasury, in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at fostering equitable revenue allocation and economic growth.
“The selection of these highly qualified appointees reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to entrusting competent individuals with the management of Nigeria’s essential financial institutions.
“Their leadership will be crucial for improving revenue generation and allocation processes, ensuring that public resources are managed efficiently and transparently for the benefit of all citizens,” Senator Lado said.
He also emphasized the Office of the Special Adviser’s dedication to promoting productive engagement between the Executive and Legislative branches of government.
He reiterated the commitment to fostering a constructive working relationship that ensures the swift legislative approval of executive nominees and the seamless implementation of government policies aimed at national development.
In a related development, the Senate has confirmed the appointment of Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman as Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) following a successful screening process.
