Eleven persons abducted by bandits from Kaibaba village in Turba Ward of Isa Local Government Area, Sokoto State, have been rescued by security operatives.

The victims, seven women, three infants, and a teenage boy were freed from captivity in a forest in Zurmi Local Government Area of neighbouring Zamfara State.

Speaking at the Government House in Sokoto where the victims were formally received, the State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, praised the security personnel for their bravery and swift response in securing the release of the captives.

He reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to addressing the issue of insecurity, which he described as a major concern of the Ahmed Aliyu-led administration.

“This administration has never relented in its efforts to tackle insecurity. The Governor treats every matter related to the safety of our citizens with utmost priority and urgency,” he said.

To support the victims’ recovery, the Deputy Governor announced a relief donation of 100,000, a bag of millet, and a bag of maize to each of the rescued individuals.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Isa Local Government, Alhaji Sherihu Abubakar Kamarawa, expressed deep gratitude to the state government for the support, noting that the gesture reflected the administration’s concern for the welfare and security of its people.

The rescue comes amid growing concerns over banditry and insecurity in parts of the North-West, with local and state authorities intensifying collaborations with security agencies to safeguard rural communities.
