Saraki Elated Over Mass Turnout For PDP Registration In Kwara

Former Senate President and ex-Governor of Kwara State, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has expressed satisfaction over the massive turnout of citizens during the ongoing membership registration exercise of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State.

Saraki was a few days ago appointed to lead the PDP into its National Convention in order to elect new national executives. The party has been in turmoil and under acting national Chairman who has been accused of pandering to the whim of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Satisfied with the ongoing registration in his state of Kwara where he was governor Saraki in a statement shared on Sunday, described the event as “quiet, yet extraordinary,” noting the determination of thousands who defied heavy rain to register at various ward centres across the state.

“Yesterday in Kwara, something quiet, yet extraordinary, was happening,” Saraki wrote.

“As the PDP membership registration got underway, thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds showed up—braving the relentless rain to stand in line, waiting patiently to be part of something bigger than themselves.”

He emphasized that while such moments may seem easy to overlook, they reflect a deeper message—that of a collective yearning for change and a future different from the current governance experience in the state.

“What struck me was not just the numbers, but the story behind them: people are collectively yearning for change,” he stated.

Saraki highlighted that real change is not achieved overnight, but through consistent and deliberate civic engagement by everyday citizens.

“It is the sum of small acts. It is the story of ordinary people making a choice to engage, to participate, and to register their belief in a better Kwara.”

Describing the registration process as an open invitation to all residents, he urged those who have not yet registered to do so by visiting their ward centres, stressing that collective participation is key to shaping a brighter future.

“A better future for Kwara State is not just something we should aspire to casually; we must all take action—today,” he said.
