Rivers Police Debunk Report Of Gun Duel At PDP Secretariat
The Rivers State Police Command has issued a statement refuting reports of a gun duel between conflicting political groups at the PDP Secretariat on Aba Road, Port Harcourt.
According to the police, the report is entirely false and misleading and was likely spread by mischief-makers and troublemakers intent on causing panic.
The Police Command Spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, revealed that its personnel were strategically deployed across key locations in the state and promptly dispatched to the PDP Secretariat to investigate the report.
She stated that upon investigation, it was confirmed that no such incident occurred.
She strongly warned individuals or groups involved in spreading false information to desist from heating the polity and creating unnecessary tension.
She added that the command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the state and will continue to work tirelessly to maintain law and order while securing lives and property.
The police have urged the public to disregard baseless rumours and trust in the professionalism and dedication of the police in maintaining peace within the state.
