Rivers Ministry Introduces Monthly Award

Rivers State Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Ilamu Arugu, has taken a significant step to boost morale and productivity of staff members of the Ministry.
At a farewell ceremony in Port Harcourt, he emphasized the importance of recognizing committed public servants and announced a monthly “Worker of the Month” award, complete with a ₦100,000 prize.
The initiative, he said, aimed to encourage excellence and hard work among staff in the Ministry.
The Commissioner also honoured the Director of Child Welfare in the Ministry, Mrs. Jacinta Vipene Lenu, for her impressive 35 years of committed service to the Ministry.
According to him, the recognition highlighted the Ministry’s appreciation for dedicated employees who have made significant contributions to its mission.
The State Commissioner reaffirmed Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s mantra of administration which puts commitment, transparency and accountability as well as staff welfare at the front burner, stressing the need for teamwork, and mutual respect, within the ministry.
On her part, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr Mrs Justina Jumbo praised Mrs Lenu’s selfless efforts, particularly with vulnerable children and urged staff to emulate her dedication and peaceful approach in resolving conflicts.
In their various goodwill messages at the event, Mrs Lenu’s colleagues commended her leadership and guidance throughout her tenure as Director in Child Welfare department and prayed for more openings on the new phase of her life’s journey.
In her vote of thanks, the out going Director, Mrs Jacinta Vipene Lenu expressed gratitude to Honourable Ilamu Arugu and her colleagues for the honour accorded her and apologized for any misunderstandings during her tenure.
Mrs Lenu’s years of service have left a lasting impression on the ministry. Her commitment to helping vulnerable children and her leadership have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues.
The event highlights Rivers State government’s appreciation for dedicated public servants and commitment to fostering a positive work environment.
