The Rivers State Government has announced the resignation of Dr. George Nwaeke as the Head of Service, effective immediately.

Dr. Nwaeke’s resignation was accepted by Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd), the Administrator of Rivers State, who appreciated his contributions to the administration during his tenure.

Concurrently, the government announced the appointment of Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG).

Professor Worika’s appointment follows a rigorous selection process that considered his impressive credentials and extensive experience in academia, international legal practice, and high-level policy advisory roles.

As the new SSG, Professor Worika is expected to play a crucial role in supporting the Administrator in achieving the President’s mandate for the state.

His appointment reflects the Administrator’s commitment to harnessing the great human capital of the Rivers’ people to work towards achieving peace, stability, and security.

In the interim, Dr. Mrs. Iyingi Brown, Permanent Secretary Welfare, Office of the Head of Service, has been appointed as the Acting Head of Service until a new Head of Service is appointed.

The Administrator congratulated her on her appointment and assured the people of Rivers State of his commitment to neutrality, peace, and stability.
