Hearing on a suit filed by a Port Harcourt based legal practitioner, Samuel Amatonjie against President Bola Tinubu, Attorney general of the federation, Nigerian Senate and House of Representatives as well as the Sole Administrator of Rivers State over the declaration of state of emergency in the state has been transferred from Port Harcourt Division of the federal high court to Abuja division.

THE WHISTLER gathered from an official of the court that not just the suit by Amatonjie has been transferred but every other matter touching on the declaration of emergency rule in Rivers State.

The plaintiff in the suit, Amatonjie who spoke to newsmen outside the courtroom, revealed how he was informed upon arrival at the court that his matter has been transferred to Abuja division of the federal high court, citing order forty nine of federal high court civil procedure law.

Amatonjie while urging the authorities concerned to assign the matter to a judge that will give speedy hearing on the matter based on the peculiarity of the matter, expressed mixed feelings over the transfer of the matter which he said has its root in Rivers State just as he assured his readiness to meet the respondents in court.

The Port Harcourt based legal practitioner, Amatonjie further explained his reasons for challenging the declaration of state of emergency by President Tinubu as approved by National Assembly.
