Rivers Angels, Edo Queens Maintain Unbeaten Run In Football League

Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens, and Edo Queens all maintained their unbeaten starts to the 2024-25 Nigeria Women Football League season with commanding victories on matchday nine.
In Uyo, Rivers Angels extended their unbeaten run to nine matches with a 1-0 win over Ibom Angels.
The only goal of the game came in the 62nd minute from Mary Moses, securing all three points for the visitors and handing Ibom Angels their first loss of the season at home.
Similarly, Bayelsa Queens preserved their perfect record with a narrow 1-0 victory against Delta Queens in Asaba. Chinwe Akabike’s late goal in the 83rd minute was the difference, ensuring Bayelsa remained unbeaten in their campaign.
Edo Queens also maintained their flawless start with a 2-1 win over Abia Angels in Umuahia. Goodness Osigwe and Esther Moses gave Edo a commanding 2-0 lead before Abia Angels’ top scorer, Mary Lucky, pulled one back in the 72nd minute.
Despite the late rally, the hosts couldn’t find an equalizer, with Abia Angels suffering their first home loss of the season.
Remo Stars Ladies bounced back from their previous week’s 1-0 loss to Nasarawa Amazons, defeating Confluence Queens 2-0 in Ikenne. Kafayat Bashiru scored both goals, condemning Confluence Queens to their eighth defeat of the season.
Naija Ratels secured a 2-0 win against Adamawa Queens in Abuja, thanks to a brace from Grace Saliu, while in Lagos, FC Robo Queens produced a remarkable 8-1 victory over debutant Benue Queens.
Opeyemi Ajakaye and Mariam Yahaya each netted a hat-trick, and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi added a brace. Comfort Saawua’s late strike for Benue Queens was a mere consolation as they suffered their ninth consecutive loss.
Heartland Queens triumphed 1-0 over Ekiti Queens in Owerri, with Blessing Saleh’s 17th-minute goal securing their second win of the season.
Meanwhile, Nasarawa Amazons continued their unbeaten streak, extending it to seven matches with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Dannaz Ladies in Lagos. Aminat Bello, Ayowunmi Omosuyi, and Chisom Chima were all on the scoresheet for the Solid Babes.
