Ripple’s co-founder leads over $11M in crypto donations to Kamala Harris
Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen has reaffirmed his commitment to Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign, revealing a significant $10 million donation in XRP last month.
This substantial contribution comes just two months after his initial $1 million donation, which marked the first major cryptocurrency donation to Harris’s campaign.
Larsen’s financial support for Harris has steadily grown, totalling over $11 million, making him one of her largest backers to date.
In addition to his recent crypto donations, Larsen had earlier contributed $6,600 directly to Harris’s campaign and $100,000 to the Harris Action Fund PAC.
In a tweet, Larsen expressed his belief in Harris’s ability to drive technological progress, especially in the cryptocurrency sector.
He emphasized that the U.S. needs a new approach to tech innovation, stating that Harris has the insight and understanding, particularly with her Bay Area roots, to lead this charge.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse echoed Larsen’s sentiments, advocating for bipartisan support to advance crypto-friendly policies.
He showed the importance of focusing on innovation rather than political divisions, noting that Ripple would continue to engage with both Democratic and Republican policymakers.
The rise of cryptocurrency as a significant force in political fundraising is noteworthy.
Reports indicate that nearly half of corporate donations in this election cycle have come from the crypto sector, with contributions reaching approximately $190 million.
