Respect late Ohanaeze leader, Iwuanyanwu by releasing Nnamdi Kanu – Family begs Tinubu

The family of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has urged President Bola Tinubu to release the agitator.

Prince Emmanuel Kanu urged Tinubu to release the IPOB leader as a mark of respect for the late Ohanaeze Ndigbo President-General, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.

Parts of a statement by Kanu reads: “The current judicial reality of the case has thrown up opportunity for a political dialogue and solution for the release of MNK and the South-East political leaders must seize the moment and take advantage of it.

“We request the President to be fair and apply the same universal justice, fairness that was applied to freeing Sunday Igboho who is his tribesman.

“We pray for the happy repose of the soul of the late Ohanaeze President General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, and ask the President and SE Governors to show respect to the late Igbo leader by releasing MNK.”

Kanu has been detained by the Department of State Services, DSS, on the orders of the Nigerian Government.

Despite several court rulings ordering that Kanu be granted freedom, the Nigerian government has refused to release him.

Last week, Justice Binta Nyako of the Abuja Federal High Court recused herself from Kanu’s case.

This followed Kanu’s declaration that he lacks confidence in the judge.

Lead Counsel of the IPOB leader, Aloy Ejimakor, who recently alleged that the DSS has denied Kanu access to his legal team, says the IPOB leader’s solitary confinement might be indefinite.
