Rep Pushes For New Technical, Entrepreneurship Colleges In Kebbi
The house of representative member representing Birnin Kebbi/Kalgo/Bunza Federal Constituency Ibrahim Mohammed, has sponsored two bills in the House of Representatives to establish new institutions in Kebbi State.
The proposed instructions are Federal College of Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition Bunza, and the National Institute for Technical and Vocational Education Kalgo
Ibrahim Mohammed said that this is part of his legislative effort aimed at tackling youth unemployment and bolstering technical education in Kebbi state.
He said the institutions are designed to transform the educational landscape by providing practical, job-oriented training for young Nigerians.
He made the announcement ahead of a crucial public hearing scheduled for Thursday, in the Committee Room of the House of Representatives.
The legislator said that the institutions are envisioned as regional centers of excellence, equipping students with vital skills in technology, applied sciences, entrepreneurship, arts, and various vocational fields.
“This is about building a sustainable future for our youth. Kalgo and Bunza will become hubs of innovation, capacity-building, and self-reliance, not just for Kebbi State but for Nigeria as a whole.”
He noted that the establishment of the institutions is critical to bridging the persistent gap between academic qualifications and employability in the country.
“Federal College of Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition, Bunza will provide comprehensive full-time teaching, teacher training, and professional certification.
“Its core mission is to empower students with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully launch and manage their own businesses, fostering a new generation of entrepreneurs”
“While at the National Institute for Technical and Vocational Education, Kalgo will be dedicated to advanced technical and vocational instruction, research, and innovation.
“It aims to set a national standard for practical training that is directly aligned with the evolving demands of various industries”
He explained that both institutions are slated to operate under independent governing councils, receive federal funding, and be authorized to award diplomas, National Certificates in Education (NCEs), and professional certifications, ensuring a broad range of accredited qualifications for graduates.
The upcoming public hearing will provide a vital platform for engaging a wide array of stakeholders, including those from the education sector, traditional leaders, civil society organizations, youth groups, and the general public.
