Renovated Abuja Conference Centre To Lead Tinubu’s 2nd Anniversary Inaugurations — Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, said the Abuja International Conference Centre (AICC) will be the first project to be inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu to mark his second year in office.
Speaking to journalists after an inspection visit to the site on Friday, Wike revealed that the renovation is nearing completion and will symbolise Tinubu’s commitment to infrastructure renewal and development.
The minister praised the contractor, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, for the quality and speed of work, and noted that the company has remained on schedule and maintained high standards.
“The centre was in a terrible state before Mr President directed that it should be rehabilitated and upgraded to the status of an international conference centre. It is surprising that no one had attempted to give it a facelift since it was built in 1991. What we see today is a product of effective leadership,” Wike stated.
“No responsible leader would allow such a facility to be referred to as an international conference centre, given its previous condition,” he added.
The minister also visited the ongoing extension of the Obafemi Awolowo Way (N5), stretching from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III, that is also being handled by Julius Berger.
He expressed confidence that the first phase of the road project would be completed in time for inauguration during the second anniversary celebrations.
Wike said, “This project is a testament to the renewed hope agenda, and we’re thrilled to see it come to fruition. Their commitment to excellence is evident in every aspect, from equipment to skilled labour.”
