Defending Champions Remo Stars will open their 2025-26 Nigeria Premier Football League season with a clash against Rivers United on August 22.

The game between last season’s champions and runners-up was the pick of the bunch at the draws for the 2025-26 season held on Monday in Abuja.

The Sky Blue Stars will welcome Rivers United to the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on the first day of the season.

It would be recalled that the Daniel Ogunmodede-led side won their first-ever NPFL title last season with four points clear of second-placed Rivers United.

In another blockbuster encounter, Abia Warriors will take on Kano Pillars at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

Newly promoted Kun Khalifat FC will battle it out with Enugu Rangers in the first oriental derby of the new season.

President Federation Cup Champions Kwara United will slug it out with Ikorodu City at the Kwara Sports Complex, Ilorin.
