Rejig your cabinet, some ministers have failed – Buhari’s ex-campaign Director tells Tinubu

A former deputy campaign director of the late President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 election, Ayiri Emami, has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rejig his cabinet, saying some ministers have failed to deliver on mandate of office to justify their appointment.

The chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, stated this at the weekend, in Abuja, noting that Tinubu would be doing himself a whole lot of good if he reshuffles his cabinet after two years of the current Ministers’ appointment, while he appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the present administration.

Emami said, it is unrealistic for anyone to fix the nation in four years, but he expressed optimism that things will change significantly in two years’ time.

Reacting to increase in allocation to the three tiers of government, Chief Emami, advised Nigerians to take more than passing interest in what 36 states governors do with the monthly disbursement from the Federation Account Allocation Committee, FAAC which stood at N1.818 trillion for the month of June.

He urged Nigerians to demand accountability from their political leaders as the removal of fuel subsidy has clearly boosted revenue profile across tiers of government.

He said: “A lot of these governors, I don’t think they are helping the situation, so that puts a lot of pressure on the federal government.

“If the federal government has taken off subsidies and the money is being paid to the state government, the states are supposed to look at what are the needs of people in each of the states, but I think the state governors don’t care, so everybody now focuses on the federal government.“

He expressed his opinion that governors are not doing well, given the huge allocation being sent to their States, hence, he advised the Federal Government to thoroughly monitor them to ensure that the fund works for the people.

He further urged Nigerians to look out for the judicious use of funds sent to States, rather than heaping blame on President Bola Tinubu, particularly when it comes to their welfare.

He acknowledged efforts by the federal government to mitigate the hardship caused by the sudden removal of fuel subsidy.

The APC chieftain noted that “some of his Ministers have failed to meet up with the high expectations of Nigerians.”

He said:” If he can fix our roads, I think the Minister for Works is trying his best.”
