Real Madrid Star, Carvajal Set To Undergo Surgery After Knee Injury
Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has confirmed that he will undergo surgery after suffering a knee injury in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Villarreal in La Liga.
Carvajal was stretchered off in stoppage time after a duel with Villarreal midfielder Jeremy Pino caused him to sprain his right knee unnaturally.
Carvajal confirmed in a post on his Instagram account on Sunday morning that he is set to undergo knee surgery.
He wrote: “Serious cruciate ligament injury confirmed, I’ll have to undergo surgery and be off the field for a few months.
“Looking forward to starting the recovery process and coming back like an animal. Thank you all for your messages, I feel very loved,”
Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti rued Carvajal’s injury and admitted that the players are worried.
He said, “It looks like a pretty serious knee injury, the dressing room is sad and worried.
“It’s something that happens a lot of times because of the calendar and it’s happened to a very important player for us.
“He is a fundamental player for us because of his experience.”
Vinicius also suffered a neck injury in the victory over Villarreal, and he is expected to be out of Brazil’s international commitments next week.
