President Tinubu , Your Suspension Of Rivers State Governor, Deputy Is A Breach Of 1999 Constitution..CKN
My Intervention On Silverbird Television On Wednesday On The State Of Emergency In Rivers, Declared By President Bola Tinubu And Suspension Of Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara, Deputy
I Said As Follows
1. The President has the constitutional right based on Section 305 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to declare a state of emergency in any state based on certain provisions of the Constitution
2. President has no longer power whatsoever to suspend the Governor of Rivers State , his deputy or even the state House of Assembly
The procedure for the removal of a Governor and his Deputy are well spelt out in the constitution and that can only be done through IMPEACHMENT
The President violated the constitution
3. The President spoke about the Governor not doing anything about the security of the state and even blowing up of pipelines, it is the President that controls the Security Agencies and military in Nigeria, the governors have no say in this
4. In his address the President only blamed Gov Fubara for the crisis in the state but failed to mention the active roles played by his appointee, the Minister of FCT Nyesom Wike, that shows a lot of bias on his part
5. I called on the President to take a second look at the State of Emergency and call the warring parties together for the betterment of Rivers people and Nigerians , after all Goodluck Jonathan declared a State of Emergency in 3 Northern States without suspending the Governors ,nothing in Rivers State so far warrants such
