President Tinubu Appoints Sunday Dare as Special Adviser on Public Communication and Orientation
President Bola Tinubu has appointed Sunday Dare, former Minister of Youth and Sports, as Special Adviser on Public Communication and Orientation.
Dare will be operating from the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, taking a key role in shaping public discourse and managing national communication strategies.
The announcement, made on Wednesday, coincided with significant changes in President Tinubu’s cabinet.
In addition to Dare’s appointment, the President sacked five ministers, reassigned 10 others to new portfolios, and nominated seven new ministers for Senate confirmation.
Sunday Dare, known for his extensive experience in public administration and communications, previously served as Nigeria’s Minister of Youth and Sports from 2019 to 2023 under President Muhammadu Buhari‘s administration.
Before his ministerial role, Dare held the position of Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in 2016.
He also has deep ties to President Tinubu, having served as Chief of Staff and Special Adviser on Media when Tinubu was Governor of Lagos State.
Reacting to his appointment, Dare wrote on X: “I sincerely thank my Leader and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for once again, reposing his confidence in me.
“I will always be proud to serve you and Nigeria again and again. Thank you, Mr President.”
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has launched a strategic partnership with the Nigeria Reputation Management Group (NRMG), aimed at rebranding the nation’s global perception.
Speaking at the official unveiling in Abuja, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, highlighted the importance of the initiative, which seeks to promote Nigeria’s true identity, achievements, and untapped potential.
Idris emphasized that the collaboration is geared towards amplifying Nigeria’s rich culture, economic successes, and contributions to global innovation.
