Premier League gives update on verdict of Man City’s 115 charges

The Premier League’s chief executive, Richard Masters, has said they have no influence over the decision or timing of the case surrounding Manchester City’s multiple charges for alleged breaches of its financial rules.

Richards stated this on Wednesday, while speaking to Sky Sports.

City had been charged in 2023 for breaking financial fair play rules between 2009 and 2018.

The alleged rules breaches added up to 115 when the Premier League charged City.

City, which lifted three titles within that nine-year period, have insisted they are innocent.

There was a hearing behind closed doors that went on for 12 weeks between September and December last year.

Masters said: “I can’t talk about it. Our rules are very specific, they say we can’t talk about things as the charges are made and not until a decision has been published.

“We still await that decision, and I can’t talk about the timing and speculate when that may be.

When Masters was asked if he is frustrated by the long wait, he replied: “My frustration is irrelevant. I just have to wait. Legal processes rarely take less time than anticipated. We have to be patient.”
