Popular Northern Nigerian content creator, Bello Habib Galadanci—better known to fans as Dan Bello—was briefly arrested on Saturday at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.

Eyewitnesses said the incident unfolded shortly after he arrived at the airport, with a group of plainclothes operatives, believed to be from Abuja, moving in swiftly and escorting him away without any resistance.

The scene drew the attention of passengers and airport staff, many of whom were visibly puzzled by the sudden development.

Dan Bello, known for his sharp satire and skits that explore everyday social and political realities, enjoys a large following on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, especially across Northern Nigeria.

He is popular for throwing shades at particularly Northern governors for failure to develop the region in education, health care and other infrastructures.

Though officials did not give a reason for his arrest, sources confirmed that he was released a short while later.

A friend to the skitmaker, Barrister Abba Hikima later posted a picture of himself and Dan Bello on his Facebook page with the caption: “Guys, we’re good.”

More details are expected to emerge.
