The Nigeria Police have reiterated the need for closer collaborations between the force and traditional rulers in Enugu State for effective policing.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone-13, Ukpo, Anambra State, AIG Abayomi Peter Oladipo, stated this when he visited the traditional ruler of Nike Kingdom in Enugu East LGA of Enugu State, Igwe Barr Julius Nnaji, and his council Chiefs.

According to a release by the Zonal Public Relations Officer, Zone 13, CSP Josephine Ihunwo, AIG Oladipo said the visit to the royal father was to drum support for effective community policing for the security and economic growth of Enugu State.

Igwe Nnaji expressed appreciation for the AIG’s visit, and pledged the full support of his people to peace and stability in the region.

The AIG, during his tour of Enugu, also visited the Police College, Oji-River, where he tasked recruits on discipline, adherence to training, and professionalism.

The statement added that “AIG Oladipo assured the recruits of improved welfare under IGP Olukayode Egbetokun’s leadership. He urged them to be steadfast and not try to cut corners during their formation stage.”
