Police Recover 15 Stolen Vehicles In Enugu
Fifteen vehicles suspected to have been stolen at various locations in Enugu State were recovered in the month of May, 2025.
The state police command stated this in a press release issued by its Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, on Monday. Ndukwe stated that the vehicles were either stolen, snatched or abandoned.
According to him, “On May 25, 2025 police operatives attached to Trans-Ekulu Division promptly recovered a stolen Toyota Camry along the Enugu/Onitsha expressway. The vehicle had been stolen the previous night from where it was parked at Ugbene 2, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu.”
He said discreet investigations and surveillance led to its recovery, explaining that the suspects abandoned it and fled. The release added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the suspected criminals.
Meanwhile, the state police command has encouraged residents of the state to take advantage of the NPF e-CMR platform via https://cmris.npf.gov.ng, and other security measures to secure their vehicles.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, also urged vehicle owners to enhance the security of their vehicles by registering them on the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) electronic Central Motor Registry (e-CMR) platform, noting that “the e-CMR was a vital national database that aids in the prompt identification and recovery of stolen vehicles across Nigeria, and supports effective policing through real-time verification of vehicle ownership”.
He further advised the public to install security features such as Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) tracking systems, car alarms, and mechanical anti-theft devices like steering and pedal locks on their vehicles.
“These measures not only help prevent theft but also assist law enforcement in swiftly recovering stolen vehicles and arresting suspects,” CP Giwa stated.
He said while the police remained committed to proactive policing and reducing incidents of vehicle theft in Enugu State, “vehicle owners must also take personal responsibility by remaining vigilant and promptly securing their vehicles, especially when parked”.
