Police Postpone Tinted Glass Permit Enforcement

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has extended the deadline for the tinted glass permit to August 12, 2025, following widespread public concerns over the digital application process.
The police spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed the extension in a statement on Saturday.
He said the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) took the decision after reviewing feedback from citizens.
The extension comes weeks after the expiration of a previous 30-day grace period, which ran from May 1 to May 31, 2025. During that period, the police gave motorists time to regularize their permit status before enforcement scheduled to commence on June 1, 2025.
The police said the extended deadline will allow for further refinements to the digital application platform to make the process more accessible, secure, and user-friendly.
“In line with our commitment to delivering transparent, inclusive, and citizen-focused policing, the Force wishes to affirm that it has not ignored the voices of Nigerians,” the statement read.
“The extension of enforcement is also intended to give room for additional enhancements and refinements to the application process, ensuring that no member of the public is unduly disadvantaged,” said Adejobi.
The NPF is currently working to simplify the procedures through improved verification systems and reduced delays to eliminate inconvenience.
Authorities reminded citizens that the only authorized platform for applying for or renewing Tinted Glass Permits remains www.possap.gov.ng.
The force also urged applicants to report any form of extortion or hidden charges encountered during the process. Reports can be made to the police via the official hotline: 09169967000.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to public safety, digital innovation, and continuous improvement in service delivery, and appreciates the cooperation and patience of the Nigerian people as these reforms are carried out,” he said.
