Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command and some professional hunters have rescued a kidnapped victim in Gombi, a local government area north of the capital, Yola.

The state Police Command, which disclosed the development, said its operatives, in collaboration with the professional hunters, rescued the victim unharmed in the joint operation earlier on Monday, August 25, 2025.

The command, in a statement released Tuesday morning, said the rescue was effected during a joint coordinated operation in the mountainous site of Gombi LGA.

It gave the name of the victim as 28-year-old Isa Adamu.

Signed by the command’s spokesman, Suleiman Nguroje, the statement explained the process in these words: “Acting on credible intelligence, a combined team of Police operatives attached to Gombi Divisional Police Headquarters and Professional Hunters of Gombi, stormed a suspected kidnappers’ hideout.

“On sighting the team, the Kidnapers opened fire, which led to a gun duel. Sensing the superior firepower of the Police, the kidnappers fled, abandoning their victim, Isah Adamu, 28 years old, a resident of Gurin town in Fufore LGA.”

It said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, and that the state Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris had directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command to take over case and ensure a discreet investigation and prosecution.
