Police officer’s son beheads sibling in Ondo
A 25-year-old son of a police officer in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, simply identified as Daniel, on Monday evening killed his younger brother.
Daniel allegedly beheaded his 15-year-old sibling, Emmanuel, at a popular river in the community known as Origbara river.
The incident has created panic and tension in the community as the residents could not fathom the reason for the crime.
According to sources in the community, the suspect was caught by a farmer, who saw Daniel while concealing the severed head of his brother in a bag.
“Some people living close to them had stated that the two of them had earlier engaged in the usual siblings quarrel. But we believe there will be more to it. In this town, if anyone sheds human blood for the purpose of a money ritual or under any circumstances, the person will be exposed instantly,” a resident said.
When contacted over the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed that Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal had ordered an immediate investigation.
Ayanlade added that Lawal had also directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID.
