Police Officer Killed In Encounter With Military Personnel In Rivers State

A police officer, identified as Inspector Prince Egbe, was allegedly killed by military personnel at the Abua road junction in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, May 13, 2025, when police officers were transporting two suspected drug dealers to their base in a mini-bus.
According to eyewitnesses, the police officers were stopped by military personnel at the Abua junction, despite identifying themselves and explaining the situation.
The military personnel reportedly demanded that the police officers release the suspects, which the police refused to do, leading to an altercation.
The situation escalated into a shooting incident that resulted in Inspector Egbe’s death.
The military personnel involved reportedly fled the scene before the arrival of a police reinforcement team from Ahoada Police Division.
The police team took the deceased officer’s body to an undisclosed mortuary. As of press time, the military personnel allegedly responsible for the killing had not been apprehended.
The Rivers State Police Command has yet to respond to inquiries about the incident.
