Police Kill One, Arrest Armed Robber In Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command on Tuesday reported the shooting of one suspected armed robber and the arrest of another during an exchange of gunfire.
The police revealed in a statement on Tuesday that the gun exchange occurred in a forest within the state.
The command’s spokesman, SP Nafiu Abubakar, explained that its operatives had accosted two individuals while on routine patrol along the Tilli/Durhella forest in the state.
The incident on December 9 witnessed the arrest of the individual, whom the police said opened fire on the operatives.
Abubakar said, “In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, Gaboje was killed, while his accomplice, Wantude Alhaji Adure ‘m’ from Ilorin, Kwara State, was apprehended.
“A locally-made pistol and one live cartridge were recovered from them.”
“The Commissioner of Police for Kebbi State, CP Bello Sani, commended the officers for their bravery in combating crime, urging them to sustain their efforts in the fight against criminal activities.
“He emphasised the command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the peace-loving residents of Kebbi State.
“Sani also directed the Divisional Police Officer to promptly transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and legal proceedings.”
