In a developing case involving alleged abuse of power, an e-hailing driver (Bolt), Stephen Abuwatseya, has narrated how a House of Representatives member from Abia State, Alex Ikwechegh, assaulted him and arranged for police to detain him for hours.

THE WHISTLER reported that Ikwechegh had allegedly threatened to make Abuwatseya “disappear” during an argument outside the lawmaker’s residence.

Abuwatseya narrated to social media critic, Otse Martins (VeryDarkMan) that after the altercation, Ikwechegh invited police officers who bundled him to a station.

“After the video, he called some police officers. I don’t know the division they are assigned to; they bundled me to the station,” Abuwatseya said.

“They kept me behind the counter for over two hours,” he said, adding that he recorded the lawmaker for his safety.

Abuwatseya explained that he was taken away by three policemen who prevented him from taking calls and drove him to the station.

“I wanted to drive the car but they said no, I was in between 3 policemen and they drove me to their station. I had calls but they didn’t allow me to take them.

“When we got to the police station, they didn’t ask me what happened but instead, they were asking people who didn’t witness what happened. Then the office asked why I was fighting the honourable but I didn’t respond.

“I was taken to the IPO’s office in maitama, who spoke to him outside the office. After the call the IPO said he was going to do investigation at the honourable’s (Rep member) house in Maitama.

“They kept me behind the counter for over two hours. After the IPO returned from his house, he asked me why I recorded the Reps member,” said the Bolt driver.

Abuwatseya said he left the police station at 3:00 am. but his car was impounded at the station.

“The honourable came to the station and started calling me names. I left the station at 3:00 am and my car is still at the station,” he added.
