Police Commissioner Orders Probe Into Attempted Suicide By Teenager In Kano

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has ordered a thorough investigation into the attempted suicide of a 19-year-old, Ibrahim Abubakar.
Abubakar had climbed an advertisement billboard at Ado Bayero Bridge on Sunday, June 23, 2025, and threatened to jump.
Abubakar, a native of Adamawa State, demanded to see popular TikToker Abdul BK or he would take his life.
His threat triggered a swift response from officers of the Kano State Police Command and the Fire Service team.
The security teams arrived at the scene promptly and initiated a rescue operation.
After negotiations, “Abdul BK was brought to the location to speak with Abubakar. Satisfied by the gesture, the teenager abandoned his suicide attempt and was safely rescued without injuries” the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Hussaini Abdullahi, revealed.
Due to weakness resulting from hours without food, Abubakar was taken to the Police Hospital in Bompai, where he received medical attention.
Responding to the incidents, CP Bakori warned that “suicide attempts are criminal offences under the law” while urging the public not to resort to such dangerous acts.
“I encourage anyone struggling with emotional difficulties and other related issues to seek help from relevant authorities and professionals,” the CP noted
