Police caution drivers on Gwaram–Basirka road after bridge collapse
Police in Jigawa State have warned drivers on the Gwaram–Basirka road to exercise extra caution following the collapse of the Bagadaza bridge due to heavy rain.
Spokesman of the command, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, stated this in a statement issued to DAILY POST on Thursday evening.
According to him, “Drivers following Gwaram to Basirka to Darazau should drive with caution as the Bazadaza bridge collapsed.”
He said the command had already deployed its personnel to guide travellers on the right route to follow.
He urged drivers to cooperate with security agencies and drive carefully to avoid accidents.
SP Shiisu reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens.
The bridge is located along the highway linking communities in Kano and Jigawa with some North-East states.
DAILY POST reported that last year, 21 persons died in a bridge collapse in Gwaram Local Government Area.
